Overview

The 1st4sport level 2 Certificate in Physical Activity and Sport Within the School Environment is ideal for learners aspiring to support the delivery of school sport programmes.

They will gain the practical and theoretical knowledge to support the delivery of safe and inclusive curricular and extra-curricular physical education and sport programmes within a school environment, under the direct supervision of a more qualified individual.

This will ensure that they have the skills and understanding necessary to support the development of children and young people in a school sport environment.

While this qualification focuses on physical activity and sport, it is also relevant for learners aspiring to work in other roles in sport, such as coaching. It isn't sport or setting-specific, and each learner can complete the assessments in their specific setting within the school environment, focusing on the appropriate context for their role.

Ensures that learners have the knowledge, confidence and skills to support the delivery of safe and inclusive curricular and extra-curricular physical education and sport programmes to children and young people

This qualification may lead to paid or voluntary roles in supporting delivery in Physical Activity and School Sport, a coach, a children’s activity professional or a sports leader in schools, under the guidance and supervision of a qualified teacher, normally as part of a schools overarching curriculum.
