The 1st4sport Level 1 Award in Coaching Assistant (Wheelchair Basketball) is ideal for learners interested in building a career as a coaching assistant for wheelchair basketball.
They will learn how to assist the delivery and review of wheelchair basketball coaching sessions under the supervision of a more qualified coach.
This will ensure that they have a key grounding in the practical and theoretical aspects of delivering and evaluating coaching activities in wheelchair basketball.
This qualification is an entry point into coaching for learners with an interest in wheelchair basketball, depending on the ability and confidence of the learner.
It is recognised as the industry standard Level 1 qualification for coaching assistants by UK Coaching and is aligned to the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity’s professional standard for Coaching Assistant.
Qualification Progression
Learners could progress on to the 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching (Wheelchair Basketball) or on to another sport-specific coaching qualification at level 1 or at level 2. The skills and knowledge developed through this qualification may also be used to progress to other industry-relevant qualifications in coaching sport, activity leadership or sports development.
This qualification may lead to paid or voluntary roles in coaching Wheelchair Basketball, working as a coaching assistant under the appropriate supervision of a more qualified coach.
