Overview

The Level 1 Award in Equestrian Coaching (Western) is ideal for learners interested in coaching equestrian sessions as an assistant.

This qualification will introduce learners to the practical and theoretical aspects of assisting in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of individual equestrian coaching sessions.

Achieving the qualification will ensure that learners have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to assist a more qualified coach in planning and delivering individual coaching sessions.

This pathway includes a unit on technical coaching requirements for western.

It is recognised as the industry standard Level 1 qualification for assistant equestrian coaches by the British Equestrian Federation, its member bodies and UK Coaching.

Gives learners the knowledge and skills to assist the delivery of equestrian coaching sessions with a focus on western. This product is mapped against the Coaching Assistant (Occupation) Professional Standards as a CIMSPA Professional Standards Endorsed Qualification

Qualification Progression

The skills and knowledge developed may also be used to enable learners to progress to other industry-relevant qualifications in equestrian coaching, such as the Level 2 Qualification in Equestrian Coaching. Learners may also be able to access British Equestrian Federation regional Continual Professional Development workshops.

This qualification may lead to paid employment or unpaid voluntary roles in equestrian coaching, as an assistant coach. Other roles that the learner may consider exploring include Activity Leader, Official, or Sports Volunteer.
