Overview
The 1st4sport Level 3 Senior Equine Groom Diploma (Racing Riding) is ideal for learners who already have experience of working with horses and want to take on more responsibility.
They will gain the higher-level knowledge and skills required to care for horses, as well as proof of their ability to look after horses without constant supervision.
This qualification is a stepping stone to a supervisory or management position, enabling learners to further develop their careers in this area.
This pathway contains a technical unit on the supervision of thoroughbred racehorses, specific exercise regimes in the racing industry.
All qualification units are derived from the Senior Equine Groom Apprenticeship Standard. Technical experts from within the BHA have provided technical advice in the development of the qualification.
This qualification is supported by the BHA as the trade association and employers for Horseracing in the UK.
Qualification Progression
Learners could progress on to the BHA Level 4 Endorsed Learning Programmes or other industry-relevant qualifications in equine care including the Thoroughbred Horseracing Industries MBA and National Stud Diploma.
This qualification may lead to employment as Senior Stable Staff, Stud Groom or Trainer.
